What We Do

Learn about what Cape Cod Native Shellfish does as a business.

Cape Cod Native Shellfish works about seven days a week, eight months a year, raising small oyster seed up to adult size. We start with placing the seed into small bags that hang upon ropes. Typically, the seed will not be available for one and a half years until it’s full grown for consumption. We transfer seed throughout the season to different sized bags according to its stage in growth. We pay attention to the amount of oysters we place in each bag as to avoid overpacking for maximum growth and quality. Once it is market size, we transfer them to cages. We then cull oysters by size and quality to sell to wholesalers.

We take pride in our quality to ensure clean, deep, hardshell oysters - whether three inches or petite size. Our oysters are beautiful, briny in flavor, and meaty.
